Over 20 bug fixes.
What can I say except “sigh.”

There's lots of great stuff out there for WordPress. I put this blog together so that I would have a place to organize the best information so that when I need it, I can easily find it. What better way to do it than with WordPress?

Meh, don’t bother upgrading is my advice. Doesn’t look like there’s anything major anyway … hopefully this attitude doesn’t bite me in the butt some day

I upgraded my wife’s site and it ended up deleted all of her categories. Any advice on how to recover them before she gets home?

Harry - oh no! Do you have a backup of the site, either one that you made with PHPmyAdmin, or with a plugin?
If not, I suggest cooking your wife’s favorite food for her and gently breaking the news over dinner.
Good luck!

Not since she created the categories. Oh well. Lesson learned. Update before upgrading. Lorelle was spoke about the importance of keeping up to date with the latest edition of Wordpress due to security concerns so as soon as I saw an update I went for it without thinking.

Harry - as you can see from Ryan’s comment above, not everyone upgrades right away. WordPress releases new upgrades on such a frequent basis, that it’s really not possible to upgrade immediately all the time.
I’m going to write a post about what you must to before upgrading to make sure that you don’t lose important things like, shall we say, categories!

I use this plugin … http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup
It emails a backup of the SQL file to you on a regular basis. You can set how often you wanted emailed. I set mine for daily, although you can choose hourly, weekly, monthly or whatever you want I think.
It works like a charm and means I always have an up to date backup of my sites

Ryan - I also use that plugin. It’s amazing, and tomorrow a post will magically appear here with recommendations on how to ensure a smoother upgrade, with a link to that plugin.

The most pathetic thing is that I actually HAD that plugin installed but hadn’t configured it yet. All is well though, lessons were learned, categories were recreated and peace reigned in our household.
