Online pinging tool for bloggers

April 1, 2007 – 10:03 pm | by

King Ping is an online pinging service that enables bloggers to update in one click the rest of the blogosphere (or many different search engines) about their new posting.

There are a few things that aren’t clear to me about this service:

  1. Why would a blogger need this type of service, when most blogging platforms already ping automatically?
  2. If this service does provide added value, do users have to enter their blog URL repeatedly, or is once enough?

If you visit the site, you will notice that information is sparse regarding the above questions and any other features or issues related to it. I suggest that the owners enrich the content on their site if their goal is to get people to use it. And since I happen to know the guy who owns the company (aggreg) that just acquired King Ping, I think I’m going to ask him my questions and see what he has to say!

Stay tuned…

    Hi Miriam,

First, happey passover! It is me Dudu and I wanted to respond to your comments. First, following the acquisition, which happened just last month we are undergoing through a major face lift for King Ping that will make it much more user friendly with few new surprises.

    In regards to your questions:
    1. Blog software usually hold one or more specific services that receive an update. Through King Ping you can reach with one click many important services that could have missed your update. We plan on adding many more services to our arsenal so it is going to be more beneficial.

    2. The current design of King Ping doesn’t save your preferences automatically. In the next version it will be much more simple. I have to admit that I have received responses from users that didn’t show interest in saving the settings or even the ability to select which servies to update. What do you think? Don’t you as a blogger want to update as many as possible search engines and that’s all?

    Cheers,
    Dudu

    Hi Dudu,
Happy Pessach and thanks for responding!

I have one more question: when I install a new WordPress site, I add about twenty pinging sites to the pinging section under Options to make sure that all posts get seen where they should be seen. Is that basically what King Ping does? Also, if a person enters their site in King Ping once, do they ever have to do it again, or is once enough?

In the next version of King Ping we will provide one ping address that you can put in your wordpress configuration and this address will ping all our listed search engines.

Our online ping tool can be used for manual pinging while our offline ping address will be used by bloggers to automatically ping us via their blogging software.

    Cheers,
    dudu
